District 5 Councilman Gary Blair is no stranger to Orange City politics. He served seven years (1998-2005) on the Council including two years as Vice Mayor. During that tenure he served on the Metropolitan Planning Organization, American Heritage Rivers Middle Basin Committee, Albertus Cottage Steering Committee, was involved with the Volusia League of Cities as well as the Florida League of Cities.

Gary's Daughter, Ashley, of Edmond, OK at age 28 is still his "favorite little girl in the whole wide world." His hometown is Boca Raton, FL and he graduated from Boca Raton High School in 1971. Council Member Blair is a graduate of Florida State University, 1977, with a B.S. in Industrial Arts/Technology Education. He has worked for the past 24 years of his 27 year career teaching middle school right here in West Volusia County. He also serves as steward at Heritage Middle School for the Volusia Teachers Organization.
