The Orange City Fire Department was established in 1890. Now with over 120 years of service, the department is still proudly committed to serving and safeguarding the community’s lives and property. To do this, the Department is dedicated to reducing the impact of fire, medical emergencies, potential disasters, and uncontrolled events that affect the community's environment. Additionally, the department provides fire prevention education and CPR instruction.
The Fire Department is under the direction of Fire Chief Chris Johnson, who oversees three Divisions and other staff roles: Operations (EMS, Training, and Maintenance) Fire Prevention, and Support. Presently, there is 1 Deputy Chief, 3 Battalion Chiefs, 12 Career Firefighters, and 30 dedicated volunteer and reserve members assigned to Station 67 at North Holly Avenue, and Station 68 at Harley Strickland Blvd. In addition we provide 3 Lieutenants and 6 Career Firefighters through a contract service with the City of DeBary.
The members and employees consist of Firefighters, Paramedics, Officers and Administrative staff. The department’s two stations each have an ALS engine staffed with two firefighters (one being a Paramedic) 24 hours a day. The staffing is supplemented through the use of reserve firefighters.
The department’s Fire Prevention Division is managed by the Deputy Chief and has a Fire-safety Inspector who conducts plan reviews, fire investigations, and inspection of all City businesses. Free home fire-safety inspections are available by appointment. The department is fully equipped and responds with a compliment of apparatus and vehicles that include: three Fire Engines, one 75’ Aerial Ladder Truck, a Transport Capable Rescue, a Military 6x Brush Truck, and four Service and Staff Trucks.
Serving Orange City since 1890.
